Public Witness and Diakonia

In Pakistan, millions of people have witnessed an environment of growing intolerance, vigilantism and impunity against weaker groups. Children, youth, women, trans-genders, religious minorities and other excluded communities are considered the most neglected groups are facing discrimination, hatred and violence.

Addressing the Power, Affirming Peace is an urgent concern of the most vulnerable communities in relation to coordinate and develops an ecumenical approach by using the tools of awareness raising, solidarity campaigns, advocacy and lobbying and policy development.

Public Witness program aim is to work together in a common quest, renewing the true vocation of the church through collaborative engagement with the most important issues of justice and peace, extremism and radicalism, incitement to atrocity crimes, religious freedom and violation of human rights.

Diakonia is the caring program meeting immediate human needs through loving your neighbor, accessing to education and health for all and creating inclusive communities. The program is facilitating an expression of ecumenical solidarity; reflect on the issues of accountability and support to vulnerable communities and churches’ healing ministries with focused on education, health, and livelihood and women empowerment.  The objectives of the program are following:

  • To empower churches to be competent in responding to social, economic, and political issues through acts of prophetic witness at times of brokenness and human needs; and,
  • To coordinate and facilitate ecumenical advocacy at the provincial and national levels on emerging issues related to human rights and dignity.
